Congratulations to our Turkey Trot team members!!

This year twelve of our students, along with our Principal, Sister Sharon Dempsey, O.P., participated in the Turkey Trot for the City of San Gabriel. Many of these students make up our Mission Running Team and have been training for over four weeks with Mrs. Kirkbride and students from San Gabriel Mission High School.

Speech & Debate Team Participate in Competition at St. Philip's

Congratulations to our students who participated in the SPAS Catholic Middle School Speech and Debate Tournament last month. A special congratulations to several of our students who received individual awards. David Padron, who took 3rd overall in Editorial Commentary with his speech on water quality. Noah Gotia-Armour, who took 2nd overall in Editorial Commentary with his speech on wearing sunscreen. Two of our students, Abigail Platon and Victoria Hernandez, also made it to the quarterfinals in Public Forum debate.

We also thank Ms. Johnson for her outstanding job as Moderator. The success of our team is a testament to her guidance and dedication and we are most grateful!

Robotics Club

Mission is interested in beginning a Robotics Club. We are in need of someone to coordinate the group. There will be support for our club from a teacher at Ramona Convent Secondary. Bless the World - Service Learning Project for November

Our Bless the World Service Learning Project for November is collecting food for Christian Service and our Parish Food Pantry to benefit those in need in our area. Each grade is assigned items to bring so that we get a balanced collection:
TK – canned soup; K & 1st – canned vegetables; 2nd – canned fruit
3rd – boxed mashed potatoes; 4th – beans; 5th – rice
6th – pasta; 7th – bread mix/muffin mix; 8th – stuffing mix.

NASA Engineer and Astronaut Jose Hernandez visits San Gabriel Mission Elementary

NASA Engineer Jose Hernandez visited our students today with a powerful message, "Anything is possible as long as you make your education a priority." Mr. Hernandez, who flew with the 2004 Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station addressed our students and gave a great presentation about his journey and what it was like to be in space. Thank you Tania Geddes, for facilitating the visit of Mr. Hernandez!
